CAT IN THE STREET
This was derived from a colored slide. The slide was separated into CMYK black and white 4x5
negatives. The black separation negative was used to make 6 positives on Kodalith film. These
went from overexposed (shadow areas) to underexposed (highlight areas). The 6 positives were
printed in transparent black ink. The most transparent black was used first. This was the shadow
area and put down the most ink. As the printing went toward the least area printed or the
highlight area, the ink became less transparent. To add color, transparent ink was printed in
selected areas.
